The Duke of Wellington's (West Riding) Regiment Officers Silver Plated and Gilt Cap Badge - Firmin

A stunning example in mint condition. Picture does not do it justice. Despite the slider, this is an official issue officers example from the mid 1990's which had a NATO Stock Number of 8455-99-130-3704, pattern No. 30204. It was deleted from the inventory in 2009. Prior to 1968, officers of the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers wore a slidered silver plated and gilt cap badge so there is a precedent for it, although it is unusual.

There is an interesting thread about this badge on the BMBF at the following URL:

The final photo shows an image (credited to the above thread) being worn an officer's peaked forage cap.

The Duke of Wellington’s Regiment (West Riding) was formed in 1881. It continued in British Army service until 2006, when it merged with The Green Howards and The Prince of Wales’s Own Regiment of Yorkshire to form The Yorkshire Regiment.
