Postcard in very good condition with pencil comments to reverse.

Awarded the RNLI's gold medal in 1916 and two silver medals in 1913 and 1914 respectively for daring and dramtic rescues including saving 50 crew from the stricken war service hospital ship HMHS Rohilla ( British India Steam Navigation Company). A photo of a grave stone in an unidentified Tweedmouth church graveyard (although I beleive they were methodists) commemorating Norman Elliot of the 2nd Royal Scots who fell in France aged 19 on the 12th October 1918 and who was interred at Philosophe Military Cemetery (in Pas de Calais, France).
