Indian Army - 3rd Battalion, 15th Punjab Regiment White Metal Cap Badge, pre 1947
A cast white metal example, which appears to have been silver plated with two original loops (pinched but functional) to the reverse. An attractive badge, circa 37mm tall. King's crown. As worn from 1922 when the 27th Punjabis became the 3rd Battalion,15th Punjab Regiment and wore this badge until circa 1953. At the time of Independence the Regiment was allocated to Pakistan.

A one piece shoulder title in cast brass with two loops to the reverse, one is a replacement afixed with a fair amount of solder otherwise in very good condition. As worn from 1950 with the Maratha shield and crossed swords to the centre of the bugle. Prior to 1947, the Regiment was known as the Mahratta Light Infantry.

A thickly made brass title of some quality with two original tombstone style fixings to the reverse,numerals '58' above a semi-circular formed "RIFLES". I suspect it to have been made my a UK manufacturer, although it is not maker marked. In super condition. Worn until 1922.

A die cast silver plated example with two original loops to the reverse and maker marked by JR Gaunt London.
The Army Remount Department was formed in circa 1875 at Soharanpur but badges were not authorised until 1931 (Indian Dress Regulations 1931 para 179).

A cast white metal silver plated example with two original loops to the reverse. In good worn condition. Circa 4cms tall. Formed in 1941 and this badge worn post Independence.
The regiment's cap badge is a chakram or quoit, with a mounted kirpan. The insignia was designed to honour the Khalsa community's Akali Nihang ancestry.
