Large Hand Painted Wooden Shield to the Northumberland Fusiliers

A large wooden shield which I imported from Canada many years ago. Apparently it was displayed in a military college in Canada. The WW1 pattern cap badge has been beautifully recreated in oils. The No '43' below is a mystery but perhaps had a relevance when displayed in the college which I cannot discern.
