First 1st Royal Surrey Militia White Metal Glengarry Badge, circa 1874 - 1881

Awarded the precedence 20 in 1855, the 1st Royal Surrey Regiment of Militia became the 3rd Battalion, the East Surrey Regiment in 1881. Circa 6.5cm tall with two original lugs to the reverse. Roman numerals XX for 20. Some misshaping to orb at top of crown otherwise in good condition with only minor wear to the silver plate on the highpoints.

A die cast bronze example with three original loops to the reverse. Polished back to a brassy colour suggesting worn on tropical tunic. In very good condition. Same size as cap badge, but worn as a collar badge.

Durham Light Infantry ( DLI ) Territorial Officers Silver Plated Cap Badge - South Africa Scroll

A scarce officers full size die cast silver plated (unmarked) forage cap badge with two original long copper lugs to the reverse. Circa 4.4cm tall. Sharp detail. Slight twisting to the lugs from service wear, otherwise in great and slightly silver toned condition. The " DLI " monogram to the centre of a crowned bugle horn above the South Africa honour scroll.

Scottish crown bronzed above separate bright silver plated cross of St. Andrew, with gilt Scottish Lion separately mounted above in silver plated scrolls Nemo Me – Impune -Lacessit all mounted on a gilt backing plate, missing other belt loop and some light scratches to finish of backing plate from service wear, otherwise in good overall condition. Maker marked Firmin.

WW1 Scarce 1914 1st Pattern Tyneside Scottish Other Ranks Glengarry Cap Badge

The design for this badge was not fixed until late November 1914 by the Tyneside Scottish Committee, and was replaced by the more imposing 2nd pattern badge in January 1915.
