The 56th (Calgary) Battalion was raised and mobilized at Calgary effective July 1st 1915. The battalion sailed for England March 23rd 1916 where it was absorbed into the 9th Reserve Battalion and used to reinforce Alberta battalions already serving at the Front. Rifle Brigade Boss Badge - Silver Plated Bugle on a small Black Cord Boss
Black cord to boss (not dark green) suggesting Rifle Brigade, with correct pattern silver plated bugle on screw fitting (no retaining nut). Circa 24mm in diameter. Some wear the edges of bugle where silver plate has worn away, but displays well from the front.
